KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The Ministry of Commanding Good and Forbidding Wrong and Hearing Complaints stated that nearly 50 people were identified and arrested over the past month for performing witchcraft in various provinces.

In the latest cases, ministry personnel arrested five individuals in Badakhshan and Farah provinces for engaging in witchcraft and deceiving residents, according to the ministry's statement. The ministry described the suspects as pretending to possess supernatural powers and carrying out acts contrary to Islamic Sharia, which misled some locals and affected their Islamic faith.

The arrests followed public complaints, with ministry officials collaborating with local residents to detain the individuals. After completing Sharia procedures, the suspects were referred to judicial institutions in the respective provinces.

The ministry's statement highlighted these actions as part of broader efforts during the past month, resulting in the identification and arrest of nearly 50 people accused of witchcraft across multiple provinces.
