Ministry Spokesman: 25 Kilometers of TAPI Pipeline Laid in Herat Province

HERAT, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) — Humayun Afghan, spokesman for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, announced rapid progress on the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline in Herat province.

Afghan stated that around 25 kilometers of the pipeline has been laid so far. He added that 120 kilometers of the area for the remaining pipeline has been prepared, with new pipelines and technical equipment currently being sent to the project sites in Herat.

The full Herat section of the TAPI project spans 153 kilometers and is expected to be completed by the end of the 2026 Gregorian year, according to the ministry spokesman.

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum considers the TAPI project a key regional economic initiative. It is viewed as essential for facilitating energy transfer, driving economic growth, and fostering cooperation among the involved countries.

The updates were shared in a ministry press release highlighting the project's advancement in Herat province.
