UNICEF: Child Protection Centers in Crisis-Hit Areas Provide Security and Education

KABUL — The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) stated that child support centers in crisis-stricken areas of Afghanistan serve roles beyond play spaces, providing security, education and psychosocial support for children.
In a post on its X account on Wednesday, Feb. 11, UNICEF noted that these centers help identify children at risk and offer stability and calm during times of greatest need. The organization previously emphasized that attendance at these centers allows children to learn new skills, engage in play and foster social interactions, helping prevent psychological harm from crises.
Children in Afghanistan face harsh living conditions, with many deprived of access to education and basic services. Prolonged war and insecurity have compelled families to send children to streets and workshops for livelihood support instead of schools or safe learning environments.
