UNDP Holds Digital Skills Training for Over 200 Youth, Especially Women, in Kabul

KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced a digital skills training initiative in artificial intelligence and information technology, providing learning opportunities for youth, particularly women, in Kabul.
The program, titled "Digital Solutions for Improvement," was highlighted by UNDP on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, observed on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2025. UNDP stated that Afghanistan's private sector is expanding but faces a shortage of skilled digital workers.
"Youth, especially women and graduates from rural areas, have very limited access to advanced training in technology and digital skills," UNDP noted in its report.
In response, UNDP and the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) organized a training course from July to November 2024 for more than 200 young participants. The initiative aimed to equip them with digital skills to enhance job opportunities.
This development occurs amid restrictions imposed since the Taliban's return to power more than four years ago, during which girls have been barred from attending schools, universities, and training centers.
