UN Women: Women and Girls in Science Make the World Better

UN Women marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by stressing the importance of equal opportunities for women to participate in scientific fields.
On Wednesday, Feb. 11, UN Women posted on its X account: "Women in science make the world better." The statement called for ensuring that every girl and woman has an equal chance to contribute to building the future.
The organization highlighted ongoing challenges faced by women in many countries, including educational restrictions, discrimination and lack of facilities. These barriers, it said, prevent women's broader involvement in basic sciences and research.
In crisis-affected countries such as Afghanistan, women and girls have been deprived of schooling and university education, as well as access to science and knowledge, for more than four years.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science aims to spotlight their contributions to scientific progress and urge institutions to promote equal opportunities.
