UNAMA: Heavy Dust Reduces Visibility in Kabul to Minimum

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that heavy dust engulfed parts of Kabul on Wednesday morning, reducing visibility to unprecedented lows.
UNAMA stated that the dust caused disruptions in traffic, the suspension of some flights, and slowed vehicle movement across the city. Between 6 and 8 a.m., visibility in some areas dropped to nearly zero, forcing drivers to proceed with extreme caution.
UNAMA staff traveling on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway also encountered severe visibility reductions, making it difficult to even identify their workplace.
The agency explained that the dust formed from water vapor accumulation due to dropping temperatures, a phenomenon that can pose serious risks to road safety and traffic flow.
Additionally, UNAMA highlighted that recent humidity and precipitation could signal a relative improvement in water resources for Afghanistan, which has endured consecutive droughts.
