
UN Special Rapporteur Calls for Probe into Deadly Attack on Shiite Civilians in Herat
KABUL (Afghan Verified) - United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan Richard Bennett has called for an independent investigation into a deadly armed attack targeting Shiite civilians in the Deh Mirai area of Injil district, Herat province.
Gunmen opened fire on civilians gathered for leisure in the area, local authorities reported. The attack killed at least 11 people, though exact casualty figures remain unclear.
