UN Agencies and EU Emphasize Support for Vulnerable Afghan Families During Ramadan
KABUL (Hasht-e Subh) -- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) congratulated the people of Afghanistan and Muslims worldwide on the month of Ramadan, stating it will continue supporting Afghans during this period and throughout the year.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), on Tuesday, expressed hope that Ramadan would bring peace, blessings and renewed hope to Afghans.
The European Union also extended Ramadan greetings to Afghans and called for support to vulnerable families. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the EU described Ramadan as a time of help and solidarity, urging people to extend aid to the needy and protect society's most vulnerable members.
These messages come amid a UN report highlighting Afghanistan's severe economic and hunger crisis. During Ramadan, those in need face heightened challenges due to economic difficulties and elevated prices of basic goods.
