Iran's Araghchi says indirect talks with US in Geneva held in more serious, constructive atmosphere
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, stated that the second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, held at the Omani embassy in Geneva, took place in a "completely more serious and constructive" atmosphere compared to the previous round.
Iran's Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday, February 17, that the talks began the previous day. Araghchi said various ideas were raised and seriously examined during the discussions, leading both sides to reach general agreement on a set of guiding principles to shape future progress.
He emphasized that this agreement does not imply a swift final deal but indicates that the process has started, with both parties prepared to continue. Araghchi noted that the upcoming stage of drafting the text will be more complex, though significant progress has been made since the prior meeting, providing a clearer path forward.
The minister added that no specific date has been set for the third round. Instead, the two sides will work on the potential agreement's text before scheduling the next session.
