UK Police Detain Man in His 60s on Suspicion of Misconduct in Public Office Amid Epstein Inquiry
Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office and remains in police custody.
Thames Valley Police stated that a man in his sixties had been detained, with searches underway at several addresses. The force did not officially name the individual but confirmed the investigation is active and urged caution in reporting to avoid prejudicing potential legal proceedings.
The arrest relates to allegations that the former royal shared confidential information linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Prince Andrew has faced ongoing pressure over his association with Epstein, which he has repeatedly denied involving any wrongdoing.
King Charles previously stripped Andrew of his royal titles and required him to vacate his official residence due to reputational damage to the monarchy.
The scandal has been reignited by renewed attention to claims by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual misconduct. Andrew has denied those allegations.
This development adds to the controversy surrounding Epstein's network, which has drawn global scrutiny to the royal family.
