Amnesty International USA has warned that U.S. President Donald Trump should not undermine the foundations of justice and the rule of law through attacks on judges or other actions.

In a post on X on Friday, February 20, the organization stated that the U.S. Congress must take all possible measures to ensure the independence of the judiciary, protect judges, lawyers, and judicial staff, and uphold the judiciary's legitimacy in checking the executive branch.

Amnesty International emphasized that such actions aim to prevent human rights violations and judicial oppression, stressing that no government should have the ability to circumvent justice and the law.

The human rights group urged U.S. officials to halt any measures against judicial independence and hold accountable those responsible for attacks or pressures on the judiciary.

According to Amnesty International, preserving judicial independence is a fundamental principle of democracy and the rule of law. Any weakening of it could lead to widespread human rights violations and public distrust.
