Trump Orders US Government Agencies to Release Classified UFO and Alien Records
US President Donald Trump announced that he has ordered key government agencies, including the Pentagon, to begin releasing long-classified files related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and extraterrestrial phenomena.
Trump made the statement during a visit to Georgia, where he also criticized comments by former President Barack Obama on the topic. Obama has previously stated he saw no evidence confirming visits by extraterrestrial beings to Earth but noted the vastness of the universe makes other life plausible. In a lighter moment, Obama once joked that one of his first questions as president was about the whereabouts of aliens.
Interest in UFOs and unexplained aerial phenomena has increased in recent years in the United States, with Congress calling for greater transparency from defense and intelligence agencies. A 2019 YouGov survey found that more than half of American adults believe the government knows more about UFOs than it publicly admits.
Trump's directive represents a push for disclosure of long-secret material, which could intensify public debate over extraterrestrial life.
