
Pakistan special envoy meets Russian ambassador to discuss regional security
Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, met with Albert P. Khorev, ambassador of Russia to Pakistan, to discuss matters of mutual interest including regional security dynamics, terrorism and threats posed by groups based in Afghanistan.
Sadiq said both sides also discussed coordinated diplomatic efforts to address shared regional security concerns. The talks come amid ongoing regional security challenges, with countries increasing consultations to counter militant threats and enhance stability through diplomatic engagement.
Separately, an extraordinary meeting of the Regional Contact Group of Special Representatives of Central Asian countries on Afghanistan took place at Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan and practical cooperation.
Yerkin Tukumov, special representative of the president of Kazakhstan for Afghanistan, emphasized commitment to constructive dialogue and practical solutions for engagement with Kabul. Discussions focused on enhancing trade and economic ties, expanding transit and transport corridors through Afghanistan, and addressing regional security concerns. Participants reaffirmed readiness for regular consultations.
In Kabul, the Ministry of National Defense of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan unveiled a new uniform for commandos, border police and the Afghan National Army during a ceremony at ministry headquarters. The event was attended by Chief of Staff Qari Mohammad Fasihuddin Fitrat, senior officials and commanders.
Qari Fasihuddin said the uniform is designed to reinforce order, discipline and shared purpose, symbolizing unity and solidarity. "All those joining the ranks must see defending the country as their primary responsibility," he said.
Enayatullah “Khowarzmi,” head of strategic information and publications at the ministry, stressed professionalism, ethical conduct, strong willpower and adherence to military principles.
Ministry officials said the new uniform is part of efforts to strengthen cohesion, discipline and unified identity among defense forces.
Tashkent and Kabul held discussions on strengthening strategic partnership amid neighboring countries' pragmatic engagement with Kabul.
