King Salman Humanitarian Foundation Begins Distributing Dates to Afghan Returnees
The Saudi Arabian Embassy in Kabul announced that the King Salman Humanitarian Foundation has started distributing 32 tons of dates to Afghan returnees. The Taliban Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation stated in a press release on Wednesday that 4,000 cartons of dates from the foundation will be distributed to returnees in the coming days. In the first phase, dates were provided to 100 families who returned from neighboring countries at Kabul's terminal.
The distributions are being carried out in cooperation with the Taliban Ministry of Refugees and the Al-Noor Foundation, according to the Saudi Embassy. Mahmoud al-Haq Ahdi, head of planning and policy at the Taliban Ministry of Refugees, expressed appreciation for the aid and urged the foundation to increase assistance to returnees.
The Taliban's Disaster Management Department confirmed receipt of the 32 tons of dates and said the packages will be distributed to needy people across Afghanistan during Ramadan. The department noted that the foundation has provided significant support to disaster victims and the needy in Afghanistan in previous years.
The Saudi Embassy also announced on Feb. 22 that it provided dates to the Taliban Red Crescent Society ahead of Ramadan. Previously, the foundation distributed food packages and temporary shelters to hundreds of families affected by earthquakes in eastern and northern Afghanistan. Recently, it delivered food aid to needy residents in Faryab, Jowzjan, Samangan, Takhar provinces and others.
