PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Afghan Verified) -- Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, called for political dialogue with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to address domestic and cross-border challenges.

Speaking at a regional meeting on "Security, Trade, and Economic Affairs between Pakistan and Afghanistan" hosted by the University of Peshawar’s Department of International Relations, Kundi stressed that constructive engagement among political leaders is essential. He said a stable Afghanistan is vital not only for Pakistan but for the wider region, with lasting peace key to economic growth and expanded trade.

The meeting also discussed regional security, trade challenges and the potential of Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossings to enhance connectivity with Central Asia. Kundi stated that security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is directly linked to conditions in Afghanistan, citing past conflicts including post-Soviet wars and events after Sept. 11, 2001, as factors that fueled militancy in the region.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has not commented on Kundi’s remarks. IEA officials have previously acknowledged the need for positive dialogue with neighboring countries to strengthen ties and economic relations.
