Herat Governor Meets Public Works Minister to Accelerate Infrastructure Projects

Herat Governor Sheikh Maulana Islamjar met with Minister of Public Works Mullah Mohammad Isa Thani to discuss accelerating key infrastructure and transit projects in the province. The meeting took place as part of efforts to advance development in Herat.

The projects under discussion included the alternative road for the Pashdan Dam, the expansion and completion of the Herat-Islam Qala highway, the Herat-Torghundi railway project, and the construction of cargo and service facilities at the Torghundi port. These initiatives are viewed as critical for improving transportation links.

Governor Islamjar stressed the importance of speeding up work on these projects. He stated that their completion would strengthen economic infrastructure, boost transit and trade, facilitate investment, and enhance regional connectivity.

Minister Thani welcomed the progress made so far on the projects. He assured that the ministry would accelerate the implementation of roads, transport networks, and other major projects in the area.

Herat is regarded as one of Afghanistan's important economic and transit gateways. The officials believe that advancing these projects will aid in increasing commercial exchanges and strengthening connections with neighboring regions.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the status of each project and agreed on the need for continued coordination between the provincial administration and the ministry. They highlighted the potential benefits for the local economy and the broader region from timely completion of the infrastructure works.
