Customs Mobile Teams Seize Over 22 Tons of Smuggled Goods in Helmand

Helmand subsidiary customs mobile teams conducted operations that led to the seizure of 22,284 kilograms of smuggled goods in the province. These actions took place in Lashkar Gah, Garmser, and Bahramcha over the course of the past week. The goods were discovered in ten cargo trucks attempting to bring the items into the area illegally.
The list of confiscated products covers a wide range. It includes 1,962 kilograms of medicine, 2,850 kilograms of rice, and 1,500 kilograms of sugar. Non-food items comprised 2,594 kilograms of fabric, 1,100 kilograms of tires, 960 kilograms of acid, as well as tobacco and agricultural chemicals.
Fifteen suspects were taken into custody in connection with these smuggling activities. Following preliminary inquiries, they were transferred to the appropriate legal bodies for further action.
Haji Haqmal, who serves as the head of the Helmand subsidiary customs directorate, reported on the outcomes of the mobile team efforts. The operations reflect continued vigilance against smuggling in the region.
