A Chinese citizen who has been living in Afghanistan has converted to Islam after recognizing its truth, according to the Ministry of Propagation, Hajj and Religious Endowments.

The ministry stated that the individual, upon expressing interest in Islam, was taken to one of Kabul's grand mosques where he recited the Shahada in the presence of religious scholars and was given the new name Muhammad Bilal.

Following the conversion, ministry officials explained the fundamental principles of Islamic belief, the five pillars of Islam, key acts of worship and the moral values of the religion to ensure the new Muslim could start his Islamic life with proper understanding and practical adherence.

The ministry added that its efforts in Islamic outreach, intellectual reform and expanding religious awareness are ongoing. It said the message of Islam is conveyed to people through wisdom, good preaching and appropriate dialogue.
