Herat Residents Warn Dialysis Patients Face Death Risk Amid Severe Shortage

Amu TV|

Residents of Herat province report that kidney failure patients are at serious risk of death due to a severe shortage of dialysis materials.

According to locals, dialysis supplies have been unavailable at Herat's public hospital for about one week. They attribute the shortage to officials' incompetence and the disruption of trade links with Pakistan due to closed trade borders, which has hindered medical imports.

After services halted at the public facility, many patients sought treatment at private centers, including Habibiyar Private Hospital. Residents say the private hospital initially provided round-the-clock services due to an unprecedented influx of patients but has now also run out of dialysis materials.

Locals state that dialysis supplies are now completely unavailable across Herat province, leaving patients in a critical condition. They warn that without urgent resupply in the coming days, hundreds of patients, from elderly to young, could lose their lives.

Families of the patients have urged officials to take immediate action to provide dialysis materials and avert a humanitarian disaster in Herat.
