British Police Arrest Former Prince Andrew on Suspicion of Abuse of Public Office Linked to Jeffrey Epstein
British police arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, on Thursday on suspicion of abuse of public office and his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
The Metropolitan Police in West London stated they are assessing reports that Prince Andrew sent business reports to Epstein, a convicted sex offender, in 2010. This follows the release of millions of pages of documents from a U.S. investigation into Epstein.
In line with standard UK procedure, police did not publicly name Mountbatten-Windsor. However, in response to inquiries about his arrest, they referred to a statement indicating a man in his sixties had been detained. Mountbatten-Windsor is 66 years old.
The police statement read: "After a full assessment, we have now begun an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office. We are aware of the widespread public interest in this case and will provide further updates at the appropriate time."
Mountbatten-Windsor has previously denied any wrongdoing in his relationship with Epstein.
Internet-published images show unmarked police vehicles near his residence, Wood Farm at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, with plainclothes officers gathered outside.
