Book and Quran Exhibition Opens in Kabul Ahead of Ramadan
A Holy Quran and book exhibition organized by Keteb Behaqi in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Culture opened in Kabul to welcome the month of Ramadan.
More than 70 publishers are participating, with over 1,000 books displayed in various sections. At the opening ceremony, Hayatullah Mohajer Farahi, deputy minister of publications for the Ministry of Information and Culture, emphasized the importance of books in raising public awareness and the need to promote a reading culture in society.
"The goal of holding such exhibitions is for our compatriots, especially the youth of the country, to become interested in reading books and be able to buy books at cheap prices," Mohajer Farahi said.
Publishers and visitors described the event as beneficial for boosting the book sales market and encouraging reading. Abdul Malik, a publisher, said, "Such exhibitions are very effective for our book sales market, and society is encouraged to buy books."
Seyyed Shafiqullah Hashemi, a Kabul resident, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Information and Culture, stating, "I thank them for holding such a program to welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, so that our people and society benefit from the good consequences of books."
Mohammad Tamim, another publisher, told a ToloNews reporter, "Our request from the Ministry of Information and Culture is to hold more exhibitions in Kabul and the provinces."
The exhibition remains open to visitors for two more days at the Deh Afghanan Book Fourway, in front of Abdul Rahman Mosque and the central Keteb Behaqi bookstore in Kabul.
