
Afghan Athlete Sofia Sarori Wins Two Gold Medals at Grappling Industries Competitions in Germany
Sofia Sarori, a 12-13-year-old Afghan athlete, won two gold medals for her country at the Grappling Industries competitions held in Nuremberg, Germany.
The events took place on 23-24 Hoot 1404 in the Hans Hochder hall. Sarori competed in the GI Kids and No Gi Kids divisions within the 12-13 years age group.
She defeated opponents from Germany and Austria while competing in two weight classes above her actual weight category, securing gold in both divisions.
According to records on the Smoothcomp website, Sarori has achieved 46 victories in various matches over recent years. Of these, 39 wins came via submission techniques, four by points, one due to opponent disqualification, and two by walkover.
Her performance highlights her skill in grappling, particularly in submission holds, as she outperformed stronger and heavier competitors from European countries.
