Archaeologists from the Baghlan Information and Culture Directorate have identified two ancient sites dating back approximately 2,000 years to the Kushan period in central Baghlan province.

Molvi Asadullah Mustafa Hashemi, head of the directorate, told Bakhtar News Agency that the sites contain remains of mud-brick walls, pottery shards, ash and bone fragments, which indicate their affiliation with the Kushan era. The initial examinations were conducted by archaeologists from the directorate's Cultural Heritage Preservation Department, in the presence of central archaeologists.

The sites are located along roads 8 and 9 in central Baghlan, in continuation of the ancient Chamqala site.

Hashemi emphasized that the preservation and maintenance of ancient and cultural heritage is a fundamental priority for the department. He noted that about 120 historical and ancient sites have so far been identified in Baghlan province and registered with the Ministry of Information and Culture.
