UNRWA Seeks $1.26 Billion in Urgent Aid for Palestine Humanitarian Crisis

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has announced it requires $1.26 billion in urgent funding to address the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
In a statement posted on its X account on Monday, February 9, UNRWA said the funds would provide vital services to 2.4 million people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
The agency emphasized that Gaza and the West Bank are facing one of the most severe and prolonged humanitarian crises in recent years. It stated that the ongoing war lasting more than two years has severely deteriorated living conditions for the population.
UNRWA added that, despite extensive security and operational pressures, it continues to deliver lifesaving services at a scale and scope that no other entity can replace.
The appeal comes amid reports that Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed more than 71,000 people, critically worsening humanitarian and human rights conditions in the region.
