UNICEF Trains More Than 54,000 Teachers in Afghanistan in 2025
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) invested in training more than 54,000 teachers in Afghanistan in 2025 to improve education quality.
UNICEF provided practical training to these teachers aimed at enhancing the learning process and creating safer, more engaging classrooms. The support was delivered in stages with structured follow-up to ensure that new teaching methods are applied and sustained in classrooms.
UNICEF stated that strengthening teachers' capacity plays an important role in improving education quality, noting that strong classrooms are formed with capable teachers.
Since the Taliban regained power in August 2021, extensive restrictions have been imposed on women's rights and activities in the country. Girls' education above the sixth grade has been halted, and women have been deprived of working in many government offices, non-governmental organizations, and UN-related offices.
Women are not allowed to work in many sectors, and measures such as closing women's beauty salons and restricting women's presence in work environments have been implemented, leading to widespread domestic and international reactions.
