Trump criticizes US withdrawal from Afghanistan under Biden as 'most shameful day in history'
US President Donald Trump criticized the manner of the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration during a speech on Wednesday.
Trump stated that everything the Biden administration did regarding Afghanistan was wrong and described the withdrawal as the "most shameful day in the history" of the United States. He noted that 13 US soldiers were killed in an explosion at Kabul's international airport during the evacuation process. Trump also faulted the decision to withdraw through Kabul airport rather than Bagram airbase.
According to Trump, there was no longer any reason for the United States to remain in Afghanistan, but his own plan had been to pull out US forces "with strength and honor." He further criticized the Biden administration for leaving behind large quantities of military equipment during the exit.
