Netanyahu's Office Denies Viral Social Media Rumors of His Death
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied viral social media claims that he died amid the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States and Iran.
Rumors spread widely online, with users suggesting Netanyahu had been killed or disappeared during the crisis. Screenshots circulated purporting to show a message from his official account announcing his death, which some claimed was later deleted. Fact-checking investigations determined the screenshots were fabricated, with no such message ever posted on his accounts.
Conservative podcaster Candace Owens shared a post questioning the denial, noting that Netanyahu's office told Anadolu Agency the assassination claim was fake news but provided no recent video or location proof. Owens wrote, "I don’t know that Bibi is dead," adding there appeared to be panic at the White House and distrust in official statements.
Another claim involved a video of Netanyahu addressing the nation at a press conference, where some alleged artificial intelligence generation due to what appeared to be six fingers on one hand. Analysts found no evidence of AI manipulation in the footage.
The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed Netanyahu is safe and well. There is no credible evidence suggesting his death, with fact-checkers deeming the viral claims false and based on manipulated or misunderstood content.
Misinformation has proliferated during the wider confrontation, fueling online propaganda from multiple sides as audiences seek rapid updates on leaders and military developments.
