BRUSSELS (Afghan Verified) — The European Union has extended sanctions against more than 2,600 Russian individuals and entities for another six months, until September 15.
The EU announced the decision in a press release on Saturday, March 14. The restrictive measures target individuals and entities responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, according to the announcement.
During the review of the sanctions list, the names of two individuals were not extended, and the names of five deceased individuals were removed.
Previous reports indicated that Hungary and Slovakia had requested the removal of two Russian businessmen, Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov, from the EU sanctions list. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
