KABUL — The Taliban announced that 396 families comprising 2,022 Afghan refugees were forcibly returned to Afghanistan yesterday from various border crossings.

Hamidullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban, reported on Tuesday that 286 families returned through the Torkham border. Additionally, 45 families arrived via the Nimroz province border, 32 families through Spin Boldak, 27 families via Islam Qala in Herat province, and six families through Bahram Chah in Helmand province.

Meanwhile, Nasir Ahmad Andishah, Afghanistan's ambassador to Switzerland, expressed concern over the refugee crisis and urged the UNHCR office in Afghanistan to pay serious attention to Afghan refugees.

Afghan refugees in countries including Pakistan and Iran face harsh conditions, with Pakistani police increasing arrests and returning hundreds daily through various borders.
