Student Protests Continue for Third Day at Tehran Universities Amid US-Iran Tensions
Students at several major universities in Tehran, including Tehran University, Al-Zahra University and Amirkabir University, chanted anti-government slogans for a third consecutive day, according to a Reuters report cited by Hasht-e Subh.
The report, dated Monday February 23, noted that flags were set on fire at some campuses. Videos from Al-Zahra University showed students chanting "We will take back Iran."
The protests come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington. Reuters reported that the United States is considering options for airstrikes, while the US president has repeatedly threatened Iran, warning of "bad things" if negotiations fail to produce results.
Tehran has responded by stating it would target US bases in the event of an attack on Iran.
This follows the recent suppression of nationwide protests in Iran, which various sources say resulted in thousands of deaths, further straining bilateral relations.
