RTA Holds Condolence Ceremony for Families of 'Omid' Camp Martyrs

KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- National Radio Television of Afghanistan (RTA) held a ceremony on April 15, 2026 (26 Hamal), to express condolences to the families of 400 martyrs and 250 wounded from the Pakistani military regime's attack on the Omid camp, a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul.

The event was attended by officials from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Speakers condemned the attack as brutal and said it crushed the dreams of addicts seeking recovery.

Qari Mohammad Yusuf Ahmadi, RTA Director General, stated that the Pakistani military regime had shattered the hopes of those recovering from addiction at the 2,000-bed facility.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir, deputy for counter-narcotics at the Ministry of Interior, called on international human rights groups to investigate the incident and not remain silent.

Dr. Abdul Latif Nazari, an official from the Ministry of Economy, said international organizations have acknowledged the Islamic Emirate's record in anti-narcotics efforts.

The ceremony praised the Islamic Emirate's achievements in combating drugs. RTA reported widespread reactions from the United Nations, World Union of Muslim Scholars, European Commission, UNAMA and others.
