The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has reported that drought and severe water shortages in parts of Bamyan Province have created a serious crisis, forcing some families to abandon their homes.
About half the residents of one village in Yakawlang district have left over the past five years due to insufficient water for agriculture. Residents in remote areas of Bamyan report that life is becoming impossible due to water shortages affecting basic needs.
OCHA stated on 26 Jawza that remote and vulnerable areas of Afghanistan are disproportionately affected by the humanitarian crisis and climate change. The agency indicated these areas require urgent assistance.
Continuation of the drought is expected to increase family displacement and humanitarian needs in the region.

Reliability assessment
Single source but provides direct, on-record attribution to OCHA (named UN agency) with concrete, checkable details including specific locations (Bamyan, Yakawlang), timeline (past five years), and date of OCHA statement (26 Jawza).
The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hasht-e Subh: "life is becoming impossible", "serious crisis", "urgent assistance" - these phrases add emotional weight and advocacy for immediate aid by emphasizing desperation and vulnerability.
