Mullah Abdul Kabir Emphasizes More Aid for Returnees in Meeting with UNHCR Chief

Mullah Abdul Kabir, minister of refugees and repatriates, met with Arafat Jamal, head of the UNHCR office in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriates stated that the discussions focused on delivering essential assistance to returned migrants during the current calendar year and creating administrative facilitations.

Arafat Jamal expressed gratitude for the ministry's cooperation, noting that UNHCR provided services and aid to 2.2 million returnees in the previous calendar year. He said priorities and needs for migrants this year have been identified, and UNHCR will adjust its activities accordingly.

Jamal proposed suggestions to Kabir aimed at providing facilitations in administrative processes and resolving existing problems to ensure sustainable and effective support for migrant affairs in Afghanistan.

Kabir, while thanking the United Nations for its assistance to Afghans, described coordination between Emirate institutions and international organizations as crucial for addressing refugee and returnee issues. He assured cooperation in relevant sectors.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Kabir emphasized the need to deliver more assistance to migrants returning to the country this calendar year.
