KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The Media Support Organization (MSO) has expressed concern over the situation of Afghan journalists in Iran and Pakistan amid recent US-Israel attacks on Iran and tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan.

In a statement issued on Monday, March 2, MSO said the developments have placed journalists in difficult conditions. It reported that two Afghan journalists were arrested in Pakistan over the past two days and are set to be forcibly returned to Afghanistan.

"Forcible return while these individuals face serious security threats is a clear violation of international human rights law and refugee protection principles," the statement said.

MSO called on Pakistan to halt the forced deportation of Afghan journalists. It urged human rights organizations and the United Nations to take practical steps to resettle the journalists in third countries.

Dozens of journalists fled Afghanistan after the Taliban's return to power and now live in uncertain conditions in neighboring countries, according to MSO.
