Israel Launches Airstrikes on Lebanon and Tehran Amid Regional Escalation

Israel conducted airstrikes on Tehran and Hezbollah positions in Lebanon on Monday, following Hezbollah's announcement of rocket and drone launches toward Israel in response to the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The Israeli army stated it intercepted a rocket launched from Lebanon, with others landing in open areas. Strikes targeted southern Beirut suburbs and locations of senior Hezbollah commanders, where dozens of explosions prompted civilians to flee.

Tensions have persisted since Saturday's joint U.S.-Israel attacks on Iranian targets, which have driven up oil prices. Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that a temporary leadership council, comprising himself, the head of the judiciary, and a Guardian Council member, has assumed the Supreme Leader's duties.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a video that military operations against Iran would continue until all objectives are achieved and urged Iranians to rise against their government. A Reuters report indicated the U.S. military has struck over 1,000 Iranian targets, with three U.S. service members killed.

The conflict intensified, disrupting civilian aviation from Qatar to Cyprus. A drone suspected to be Iranian struck Britain's Akrotiri air base in Cyprus, causing minor runway damage but no casualties, prompting heightened security.

In Kuwait, Kuwaiti officials confirmed U.S. military aircraft were downed by ongoing Iranian rocket and drone attacks, with all crew members rescued and stable. Air defenses intercepted threats over key areas for a third day.

Doha’s Hamad International Airport suspended operations due to rocket warnings over Qatari airspace, stranding thousands. In Dubai, rocket interceptions and explosions were reported, leading to temporary airspace closure, flight disruptions, and confirmed casualties.
