Master's Student from Faryab Killed by Armed Men Near Hairatan Port

MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) -- Omidullah, a master's student from Faryab province studying in Uzbekistan, was killed by armed men on Tuesday while traveling with his brother Basmalah from Mazar-i-Sharif to Hairatan port.

The incident occurred on April 1 near the Kifayat Market area, where attackers pursued the brothers' vehicle before opening fire, according to local sources. The assailants stole cash, a Lexus car and mobile phones from the victims.

Local sources warned that dismissed Taliban affiliates have been engaging in crimes including theft and harassment. They highlighted ongoing security concerns in the area despite Taliban claims of nationwide stability.
