
Jowzjan officials commemorate Day for Protection of Cultural Heritage
Jowzjan province marked the 20th of Hoot, the Day for Protection of Cultural Heritage, with a ceremony.
Al-Haj Mawlawi Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Jowzjan, spoke about Afghanistan's ancient history and civilizations during the event. He stated that protecting cultural heritage forms a key part of the historical and cultural identity of the Afghan people. Sarhadi emphasized that preserving cultural works and values is a shared responsibility of all citizens, and efforts must be made to pass this heritage to future generations.
Mawlawi Sayf al-Din Mutasim, head of the Information and Culture Department in Jowzjan, addressed the gathering, describing cultural heritages as a nation's valuable assets. He said their preservation requires comprehensive attention and cooperation from the public and responsible institutions. Mutasim added that his department has specific programs underway for identifying, registering, and protecting historical and cultural sites across the province.
The 20th of Hoot is annually observed in Afghanistan as the Day for Protection of Cultural Heritage to raise public awareness about safeguarding the country's cultural works and values.
