Iranian Delegation Heads to Islamabad for Talks on 10-Point Proposal

An Iranian delegation is set to arrive in Islamabad on Thursday night for serious negotiations based on a 10-point proposal, Iran's ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said.

The visit comes at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, despite doubts over a temporary U.S.-Iran truce due to what Iranian officials describe as Israeli violations. Amiri Moghadam noted that Iran is entering the talks under mistrust amid ongoing regional violence.

Pakistan helped broker the initial ceasefire and has invited both sides for broader discussions. U.S. Vice President JD Vance is expected to lead the American delegation, according to multiple reports.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have stated that Washington failed to uphold ceasefire understandings. There is disagreement on the truce's scope: Pakistan maintains it applies everywhere, including Lebanon, while Israel and the U.S. say it does not cover operations against Hezbollah.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a key pressure point in the ceasefire discussions.
