Iran Confirms Death of Revolutionary Guards Navy Commander Tangsiri
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the death of Alireza Tangsiri, commander of its naval forces.
An IRGC statement released on Monday said Tangsiri died from the severity of his injuries. The confirmation came four days after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that Tangsiri had been killed in an Israeli operation.
Israel had announced targeting Tangsiri in a strike. Katz's statement was reported via Reuters.
Tangsiri had led the IRGC naval forces since 2018, according to the IRGC statement.
The death marks another loss for Iran's military leadership amid ongoing tensions with Israel.
