India defeats Afghanistan in Under-19 Cricket World Cup semi-final

India defeated Afghanistan in the second semi-final of the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup on Wednesday, advancing to the final against England.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive total built on key partnerships. Openers Osman Sadat and Khalid Ahmadzai added 53 runs before Ahmadzai fell for 31. Sadat (39) and Faisal Khan then put on 64 for the second wicket. Faisal Khan anchored the innings with a 148-run partnership with Uzairullah Niazai, scoring his second century of the tournament with 110 runs before being dismissed.
India chased the target in 41.1 overs, led by opener Aaron George’s 115 off 104 balls, including 15 fours and two sixes. Captain Ayush Mhatre scored 62, sharing a 114-run stand with George after early setbacks. George later partnered with Vihaan Malhotra (38 not out) to secure the win.
The victory extended India’s unbeaten run and marked their record 10th appearance in an Under-19 World Cup final. The five-time champions will face England on Feb. 6 at Harare Sports Club, following England’s win over Australia in the first semi-final.
Afghanistan’s campaign ended without reaching their first-ever final.
