Four members of a family, including three young children, were killed in a Russian drone strike on a residential house in Ukraine's Kharkiv region.

The attack occurred Tuesday evening when a drone hit the home in northeastern Ukraine, burying the family under rubble, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Wednesday.

Local officials stated that the strike completely destroyed the house, killing two 2-year-old twin boys, a 1-year-old girl and their 34-year-old father. The pregnant mother was the sole survivor, rescued with severe injuries including brain trauma, burns and blast wave effects. She was hospitalized.

The incident occurred amid ongoing Russian attacks on residential areas of Ukraine, as U.S.-led diplomatic efforts to end the war proceed slowly and civilian casualties continue to rise.
