Financial Times Reports Iran Used Chinese Satellite to Monitor U.S. Bases
The Financial Times reported that Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps acquired and operated a Chinese satellite known as TEE-01B in 2024 to monitor U.S. military bases in several countries.
The satellite tracked U.S. bases in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Djibouti and Oman, as well as some civilian infrastructure in the Gulf region. The surveillance could potentially improve targeting precision amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.
CNN separately reported that China may supply air defense systems to Iran, a claim denied by Beijing. China has criticized U.S. actions, including a reported naval blockade of Iran.
These developments occur against the backdrop of recent military escalations between Iran and the U.S., followed by a fragile ceasefire.
