British Funeral Home Manager Confesses to Failing to Bury 30 Bodies, Stealing Charity Funds

HULL, England — Robert Bush, 48, manager of an independent funeral home in Hull, northern England, confessed in court to failing to bury 30 bodies and stealing money donated by families to charities.

The charges, spanning May 2012 to March 2024, also involved providing families with ashes from strangers and selling fake funeral plans, to which Bush pleaded guilty without showing emotion.

Humberside Police began investigating in March 2024 following concerns raised by families of the deceased. Officers discovered human remains at the premises, including four aborted fetuses.

Judge Hillard stated that a prison sentence was inevitable for Bush but released him on bail. Final sentencing is set for July 27, 2026.

Families of the victims expressed outrage, calling Bush "a monster" and voicing heartbreak over his release on bail.
