Afghan economic panel approves fixed tax plan for import trading companies at customs

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Technical Committee of the Economic Commission held its regular meeting on Monday, 11 Hoot 1404 (solar year), at the Marble Palace.

The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister's Office stated that the Ministry of Finance presented a plan for fixed tax payments by import trading companies at the country's customs houses. After evaluation, the plan was deemed confirmable. Implementation is expected to provide greater facilities for import firms and generate significant revenue for the public treasury.

The meeting also reviewed a report from a designated committee on semi-finished projects funded by foreign institutions in Afghanistan. The committee was tasked with conducting a comprehensive evaluation, prioritizing the projects, and submitting its report to the Technical Committee at a specified time.

A proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock on land stabilization and modernization of the related system was discussed. The ministry was advised to enrich the plan by sharing it with relevant departments and present the finalized version at the next Technical Committee meeting.

Additionally, the committee discussed aluminum exports to foreign countries. Relevant committees were assigned to evaluate the issue comprehensively and report back to the Technical Committee at the designated time.
