Afghan Boxer Lists 12 Reasons for Dismissing Boxing Federation Acting Head, Calls for Protest

KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Afghan boxer Mohammad Zakaria Zamani has issued a statement listing 12 specific reasons for the dismissal of the acting head of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation.

Zamani accused the leadership of failing to organize regular training activities, poor planning for international competitions, demanding money from athletes, mistreating participants, and making unfair selections for national teams. He highlighted several examples to support his claims, including athletes receiving only 300 afghanis monthly from Kabul boxing clubs, the preference for expatriate athletes such as Firoz Safi over domestic talent, and instances of disrespect toward Afghan competitors during events in Iran.

In his statement, Zamani detailed additional grievances, such as the lack of proper support for young boxers' development and inadequate preparation for global events, which he said jeopardize the future of the sport in Afghanistan.

Zamani urged fellow athletes and coaches to join him in a protest on Saturday to defend their rights and push for the acting head's removal. He emphasized the need for collective action to protect the interests of young boxers and ensure fair management of the federation.

The statement comes amid ongoing concerns within Afghanistan's sports community about administrative practices in various federations.
