Afghan and Uzbek Traders Sign $300 Million Memorandums of Understanding
KABUL — The Taliban Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that traders from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan's Syrdarya province signed commercial memorandums of understanding valued at 300 million dollars across various sectors.
The ministry issued a press release on Tuesday stating the agreements aim to increase trade volumes and meet mutual requirements between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. The signing ceremony took place with Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban's acting minister of industry and commerce, and Erkinjon Tordimov, governor of Syrdarya province in Uzbekistan, in attendance.
According to the ministry, trade between the Taliban administration and Uzbekistan experienced a significant increase in 2025. Uzbekistan's National Statistics Committee reported the trade volume between Afghanistan and Tashkent at approximately 1.6 billion dollars for that year.
The agreements underscore growing economic ties between the two neighbors, focusing on enhanced commercial exchanges in multiple industries.
