
Pakistan examines Afghanistan's role in strengthening trade ties with Central Asia
Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan's special representative for Afghanistan, chaired a meeting of the Afghanistan-Central Asia Inter-Ministerial Coordination Core, where participants reviewed Afghanistan's role in bolstering Pakistan's commercial and transit relations with Central Asian countries.
Sadiq stated on X that the session focused on trade, transit and investment ties between Pakistan and Central Asia. Senior officials from Pakistan's Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Communications attended, along with representatives from the Special Investment Facilitation Council, the Investment Board and other relevant bodies.
The meeting occurred amid ongoing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, with border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan closed to traffic and commercial trade for more than three months.
