1 killed, 2 wounded in Jawzjan collision
JAWZJAN, Afghanistan — A man was killed and two others were injured when a Passo-type vehicle collided with a tanker truck on the Jawzjan-Balkh highway in the Chaghchi area of Jawzjan province late Tuesday.
Police spokesman Qari Abdul Sattar Halimi reported that the accident took place at 10:00 p.m. The driver of the Passo vehicle died at the scene, while the two injured individuals were rushed to the 200-bed provincial hospital in critical condition.
Halimi provided details of the crash to Pajhwok Afghan News, confirming the location along the highway linking Jawzjan and Balkh provinces in northern Afghanistan. The incident underscores the hazards of travel on the route, though no further details on the cause were immediately available.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the tanker truck's cargo or the identities of those involved. The injured remain under treatment at the hospital.
