WFP Delivers Aid to 286,000 People in Kandahar

The World Food Program (WFP) announced it has provided humanitarian assistance to 286,000 residents of Kandahar province.
In a statement on its X account on Sunday, February 8, WFP said the aid is vital for needy families in remote areas of the province, with thousands of families benefiting.
WFP added that needs in Afghanistan have sharply increased, with about 17.4 million people facing food insecurity nationwide. The organization expressed appreciation for support from international partners and emphasized that aid delivery to families in difficult situations will continue.
Previously, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that more than four million people in Afghanistan will require assistance this calendar year. OCHA noted that natural disasters, the return of migrants and economic problems have heightened vulnerabilities, and it plans to provide aid to about 881,000 people.
