KABUL (Hasht-e Subh) -- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) states that investing in the early years of children's lives can strengthen their brain development, health and learning, with long-term positive impacts.

On Sunday, 3 Hoot, UNICEF posted on its X account, emphasizing a secure future for children and noting that childhood "shapes their entire life."

The agency said parents in six Afghan provinces are participating in a 16-week child growth and nurturing program. This initiative helps parents build confidence, enhance child care skills and create lasting changes at home.

UNICEF stressed that supporting early childhood development lays the foundation for children's physical and mental health, as well as success in education and future lives.

Children in Afghanistan face serious challenges, including poverty, limited access to education and health care, security instability and consequences from conflicts that threaten their growth and health.
